The Indian quartet marched into the pre quarter final stage after winning their first two rounds here at the Asian Junior Squash Championships held in Hong Kong.
Unseeded Naresh Kumar defeated 9/16 seed Kuwaiti Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Tawari in 4 games. Naresh started aggressively against and even more aggressive Mohammed. Whilst it was giving him the results it also meant a lot of hard work. Naresh continued with more or less the game plan in the second but a sting of unforced errors coupled with some amazing winners by Mohd. cost him the game. Naresh slowed it down effectively to win the next 2 games. He faces 5/8 seed Kelvin Yeo of Malaysia in the pre quarters. Parth relied on his sound basic game to defeat his opponent also in 4 games. Harinder and Sandeep secured their berths with convincing 3-0 victories.
Earlier in the first round Indian juniors Ravi Dixit and Ramit Tandon gave inspiring performances against better players. However their both lost narrowly in 5 games. The plate event which starts tomorrow will continue to give them the much desired exposure.
Anwesha Reddy was defeated by Hong Kong’s Tong tsz Wing in straight games. Dipika Pallikal the other Indian entry had to withdraw due to food poisoning.
