India’s top 2 women players Joshana & Dipika participated in the Irish Open held in Dublin from 18-25 April 2009.
Joshana won her first qualifying round with ease against Carrie Hastings from England 11/4, 11/7, 11/5 in 21 min. However in the 2nd round of qualifications England’s Lauren Siddall scored the best win of her career by upsetting Joshana Chinappa 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 in 24 minutes.
Dipika played her first qualification round against home favorite Kerri Lancaster and won in four games 11/8, 11/6, 11/6. In the 2nd round she faced qualifier no1, Manuella Manetha and lost a hard fought match – 11/9,11/7,11/9,7/11, 115.
