Junior Interstate Championships, Indore (26-29 October 2009)

Tamilnadu boys continued their dominance by winning both tiitles (u15 & 19) in the boys categories. While the girls from Maharashtra defeated the top seeds Tamil Nadu in the under 19. The u15girls was won by top seeded Delhi.

Junior National Squash, Indore 21-25 Oct 2009

Top Seeds Dipika Pallikal & Aditya Jagtap won the National junior title in 2009. A total of 5 titles for Tamin Nadu, 4 for Maharastra and 1 for Delhi.

India’s Saurav Ghosal read the main draw at the HK Open losing to 4th seed Ramy Ashour. Dipika Pallikal became the youngest – and lowest ranked – player to earn a place in the main draw after an impressive straight games success.  The 18-year-old from Chennai, ranked 54 in the world, ousted Joelle King -beating the New Zealander ranked 32 in the world 14-12, 11-5, 11-5.

Winning the PSA and WISPA titles for the first time in  last month’s  events, Indian players are geared up and raring to go for honours in the PSA Indian Challenger No: 4 and WISPA Indian Challenger No:2 commencing  in Chennai at the Indian Squash Academy from Oct  5  to 10, 2009.  This event is supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport in preparation for the Commonwealth Games 2010.  

Egypt World Men’s Champion; India finish 18th

Egypt lift the title in dramatic style, while the Indians have their week on misfortune at the World Men’s Team Championship, Denmark 27 Sept – 3 Oct 2010.
