Sandeep upsets Shohaib to reach quarters

Sandeep Jangra played the match of his life to upset 5/8 seed Shohaib Hassan of Pakistan in a thrilling 5 set encounter lasting 104min. Playing drops and lobs throughout the first game which lasted just under 30 min Sandeep forced Shohaib to make errors. However Shohaib came with blistering pace to win the next two games. Sandeep kept his nerves in the fourth and fifth game to clinch the tie with his outstanding drops from all over the court. A delighted Sandeep after the match said “I am very happy with my performance, especially my fitness has improved, and I would like to thank the SRFI for the training given to me for the last few months and especially to Maj. Maniam and Cyrus for giving all the guidance and pushing me to train harder.
Later in the evening Sandeep has no answer to the delightful stroke play of second seeded Mezayen and went down in straight games. Harinder and Parth kept their higher ranked opponents Ashraf and Leo Au respectively on court for more than 100mins but lost in 5 extremely hard fought sets.
