4 Titles for India at Scotland

Harinderpal Singh playing his last year in the juniors, had much to cheer about when he won the Boys u19 Scottish Junior Open in Edinburgh. In an enthralling final against Kelly Shannon from Canada, Harinder displayed exceptional winners in the front of the court and brilliant retrieving skills which was unmatched. Kelly kept the pace of the game at a high tempo and won the second game to level the match, Harinder came back strong by rushing to a 8-0 lead in the 3rd before winning it with easily. The fourth was much closer but Harinder’s consistence paid off to win it in extra points. Harinder became only the second Indian to win this title in the under 19 category after Siddharth Suchde in 2003.
Anwesha Reddy needed 29min to win her first European title and become the only Indian to win the Girls u17 in Edinburgh. Top seeded Kimberly had no answer to Anwesha’s aggressive play who moved her opponent all around the court. Mahesh Mangaonkar won his first u15 title defeating Dylan Murray in a repeat of last years under 13 final at the same event.  While playing in his first international tournament, Sandeep Ramachandran lifted the boys u11 crown.
