Later in the day Squash Rackets Association of Malaysia President and former WSF Vice President Dato’ A. Sani Karim was elected to succeed Ramy as the 5th President of the ASF. The 3 Vice-Presidents who walked in without an election were incumbent David Mui of Hong Kong, former ASF Secretary General Srivatsan Subramaniam of India and Kuwait Squash Vice President Abdul Aziz. Dato’ Sani sought to close ranks and promised to keep up the good work of his predecessor.
In his closing remarks Ramy profusely thanked his three vice Presidents and all his supporting staff. He made particular mention of the unwavering contributions of the Director of Coaching Major(R)S.Maniam and the Director of Referees Munir Shah who have both served the Federation for over two decades. He congratulated them as they were inducted into the ASF Hall of Fame for their yeoman service to the ASF. Dato’ Sani echoed Ramy’s sentiments and confirmed that they would continue to serve as directors with the new committee.
The AGM attended by delegates from 22 countries contributed actively in discussions which involved promotion and development of the sport in the region and importantly the regions support to the WSF for the Olympic bid.
