World Open, Kuwait (1-7 Nov 2009)

India’s top ranked player Saurav Ghosal crashed out of the USD 277,500 World Squash Open after being defeated by top seeded Egyptian Karim Darwish in Kuwait City.

World number 34 Ghosal, who for the first time in his career has made it to the second round of the premier event, lost 4-11 5-11 9-11 1-11 to top seed Darwish in 40 minutes at the all-glass court in Green Island last night.

Saurav, India’s lone challenge, had beaten French qualifer Mathieu Castagnet 0-11 11-6 11-8 11-5 in the opening round.
