National Championship, New Delhi 15-20 Dec 2009

Top ranked Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinappa crowned themselves national champions for the 5th and 9th time resp. after notching up contrasting wins in the Senior National Squash tournament held at Delhi Gymkhana.

Ghosal, maintaining his good form in the event, did not break much sweat and ended the challenge of Harinder Pal Singh 11-2 11-5 11-3 in straight games. In the third place play-off, local-lad Gaurav Nandrajog had a walkover against Maharashtra’s Siddharth Suchde.

In the women’s section, ISA trainee Joshana Chinappa overcame a second game lapse to beat Anaka Alankamony also from ISA 11-7 9-11 11-7 11-5 in 37 minutes. Aparajitha Balamurukan fineshed in 3rd place ahead of Saumya Karki.
