World Junior Women’s Championship, Boston, USA (20-30 July’11)

The Indian team comprising Anaka Alankamony, Saumya Karki, Aparajitha Balamurukan and Ankita Sharma finished fourth in the World Junior Team squash championships after losing the bronze medal playoff 1-2 against Hong Kong. Earlier, in the semi finals India lost narrowly to hosts USA after defeating England in the quarterfinals.

Five-time finalist and two-time defending champion Egypt successfully retained the title defeating host USA, making its first-ever World squash team final appearance.

In the individual event Anaka reached the round of 16, Aparajitha reached the round of 32 whereas Saumya, Ankita and Lakshaya Ragavendran lost in round 2.
