Carol Weymuller PSA W50 (29 Sept – 5 Oct’15)

India’s national champion and world ranked 20, Joshna Chinappa went down in the semi-final of the $50,000 Carol Weymuller Squash event, in New York.
Joshna , who came through the qualifying rounds, beat  seventh seeded Emma Beddoes of England  4 -11, 16-14, 11-7, 11-4 in the first round and then in the quarterfinal she accounted for another qualifier Salma Hany of Egypt, who is above the Indian in world rankings. The scores of 11-9, 8-11,5-11, 11-8, 11-9 depicts a great upset. In the semi-final world ranked 28, Joelle King of New Zealand beat Joshna 11-4 9-11 11-4 11-8.
Dipika Pallikal lost narrowly to world no. 1 Raneem El Welily 11/6, 11/7, 5/11, 7/11, 11/5 in round 1.
