DNA – Indian Squash looking up

Indian women’s squash has been on a high in recent times with both Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal clinching WISPA titles in the last two monthsThe latest came on Sunday when Joshna Chinappa won the German Ladies Open title in Saarbrucken.  This is Joshna’s first WISPA title on the European tour. Indian squash coach Cyrus Poncha reiterated the fact saying, “It is a great win for her she had won WISPA tournaments before but all been in Malaysia. Dipika Wins WISPA Indian challenger #5 in Kolkata

Dipika Pallikal wins her maiden WISPA title in Kolkata after defeating higher ranked opponents in the semi finals and finals, while Mohd. Shorbagy also win’s his first title in a 5 star event. These WISPA & PSA event was supported by the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The tournament was held at the The Calcutta Racket Club. Read more of this post

Joshana Wins in KL

Joshna Chinappa became the first Indian woman to claim a WISPA title, when she defeated Malaysia’s Low Wee Wern 11-8, 11-5, 11-3 in the final of the NSC Super Satellite (No.3) squash tournament at the National Squash Centre, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday.

Joshna, who’s been training at the ICL Academy and at England, contested her third final of the season. The 22-year-old had earlier made it to the summit clashes in the tournaments at Vietnam and China.

WISPA To Move To PAR Scoring

In the first scoring system change in the history of women’s professional squash, the Women’s International Squash Players’ Association has decided today (Monday) that all matches played on the WISPA World Tour from 21st July will move to what it terms Pro-Scoring. Read more of this post
