8th World University Squash Championship, Chennai from 1-7 September 2014

The eighth edition of the World University Squash Championship will be hosted by the SRFI in association with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) from September 1 to 7, 2014 at the Indian Squash Academy. This is the first time that this event is coming to India and when AIU bid for it, it decided to seek SRFI’s assistance to host the competition. Under the auspices of SRFI, the Tamil Nadu Squash Rackets Association supported fully by the Tamil Nadu government will conduct the championship. The IJO is an SRFI, Asian junior super series and World junior circuit event with competitions in ten age categories (boys and girls) U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19. A total of 503 entries – there are 343 boys entries and 160 girls entries. Read more of this post

World Junior Team Championship, Namibia (16-21 Aug’14)

Kush wins first Indian medal at the World Junior Men’s C’ship, Namibia (10-15 Aug’14)

By becoming the first male player from India to reach the semi-final of a world championship, Kumar has carved a special place for himself in the country’s squash history. Kush Kumar’s good show was the high point of India’s performance in the individual phase of the WSF World Junior Individual championship in Namibia. Under 13 National Champion, Veer Chotrani also the top seed at the HK Junior endured a stiff challenge from the second seed and his traditional home rival Yash Fadte to snatch a nail bitting 14-12  8-11  11-7  11-8 win in the final of the Hong Kong Junior Open squash event. Read more of this post

Gold at the Commonwealth Games, Glasgow
